District Court 71A

71A DISTRICT COURT

The 71A District Court has exclusive jurisdiction of all civil litigation up to $25,000.00 and handles garnishments, eviction proceedings, land contract and mortgage foreclosures, and small claims up to $6,500.00.

Criminally, the District Court handles all misdemeanors where punishment does not exceed one year as well as relevant proceedings including arraignment, setting bond, trial and sentencing. The District Court conducts preliminary examinations in felony cases.
